Sacred Seasons: Trusting God Through Life’s Transitions

“For David said, ‘The Lord, the God of Israel, has given rest to His people, and He dwells in Jerusalem forever.’

And so the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.”

—1 Chronicles 23:25–26

In seasons of transition—especially one as life-altering and heart-breaking as losing a loved one —it can feel as though the very ground beneath us has shifted. Roles we once embraced, routines we once carried out with love, and identities that shaped our days are suddenly no longer the same. The world continues moving, but we’re left holding the pieces of a life that no longer looks the way it used to.

As I step into this new chapter after the loss of my husband, I was surprised to find comfort in a passage I’ve rarely lingered on before: 1 Chronicles 23:25–26. At first glance, it may seem like a simple historical note about temple duties. But as I read it with the lens of personal grief, I began to see something deeply meaningful.

David is preparing the people for a new season. The wandering is over. The battles are behind them. God has given His people rest. And because He now dwells in Jerusalem—no longer in a mobile tent—the Levites no longer have to carry the tabernacle or the holy items they once transported from place to place.

That change didn’t diminish the sacredness of their former role. In fact, it honored it. The years of carrying, protecting, and moving with God’s presence were not wasted—they were holy. But now, God was doing something new. Their burden was lifted. A new chapter had begun.

Surprisingly, a glimpse of my own life jumped off the page in those verses—and perhaps it does for you, too, if you’re in a season of transition or loss. (I love how God speaks to us through His word—often in unexpected places like this!)

God gently reminds me through this passage:

  • You no longer have to carry what you once did.
  • That doesn’t mean you’ve lost your purpose –
  • It means I’m leading you into something new.

For so long, I carried the role of a wife and caregiver. It was sacred and weighty, filled with both joy and heartache. And now, I no longer carry those same daily duties. It’s a tender release, not one I asked for, but one that life brought—and one that God sees. Now that season has shifted. That role has changed.

This scripture reminds me that God is not only the God of our past—of our marriages, our memories, our familiar roles—but also the God of our present and our future. He still dwells with us. He is not far off. He sees us and cares about our new role. Even as the landscape of our lives changes, His presence remains steadfast and near.

So if you find yourself in a new chapter—whether through grief, change, or an unexpected shift in your life—I pray this passage brings you peace:

  • You do not carry what you once did.
  • That does not mean you failed or you no longer have a purpose.
  • It means God is doing something new.
  • He’s still right by your side.

The same God who was with us in the carrying is the One who is with us in the releasing. He is still near, and He is still dwelling with us.

Dear Lord, thank you for being with us through all seasons in life. Help me trust You to be with me and guide me on navigating this change. Give me peace as I lay down what I no longer need to carry, and strengthen me to walk forward with You. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen

Lord, What’s Next? Learning to Follow in Faith

"Lord, what will You have me to do?" – Acts 9:6 (KJV)

When Paul encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, his entire world changed in an instant (including his name!). In awe and humility, he asked the most important question anyone can ask the Lord: “Lord, what will You have me to do?” Notice Jesus’ response—He didn’t give Paul a full blueprint of his life’s mission. Instead, He simply told him, “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do” (Acts 9:6, NIV). One step. That was it.

If you’re like me, you probably want to see the entire roadmap before you take the first step. We like certainty, clear plans, and guarantees. But often, God operates differently—He only illuminates the very next step, asking us to trust Him for the rest.

Paul, later known as the apostle to the Gentiles, would go on to spread the Gospel across nations, write much of the New Testament, and suffer greatly for Christ. But at that moment, all he knew was to go into the city and wait. He obeyed, and as he took that first step of faith, God revealed the next. Then the next. And the next. Step by step, Paul followed, and looking back, we can see how God’s hand guided every part of his journey.

Perhaps you’re in a season of uncertainty. The path ahead seems dark, and you’re desperately wanting God to show you the full picture before you take another step. But what if, instead, He’s asking you to trust Him for just the next step? What if He is waiting for your obedience in the small things before He reveals more?

Looking back on your own faith journey, you may see a winding, zig-zagging path, but you will also see the unmistakable hand of God leading you. Even when you didn’t understand, He was there. Even when you felt lost, He was guiding. And He is still guiding you now.

So, if you’re wondering what to do next, ask Him as Paul did: “Lord, what will You have me to do?” Then, be still and listen. He will show you the next step, and as you step forward in faith, He will illuminate the path ahead—one step at a time.

A Prayer for Trusting God’s Guidance

Heavenly Father, I come to You with a heart that is seeking direction. Like Paul, I ask, “Lord, what will You have me to do?” I trust that You have a plan for my life, even when I can’t see the full picture. Give me the faith to take the next step, knowing that You will lead me every step of the way. Help me trust in Your perfect timing and rest in the assurance that You are in control. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Trusting God With an Unknown Future

Life is full of uncertainties. There are seasons when we stand at the edge of the unknown, staring into the future with fear, anxiety, and doubt. We wonder what will happen next, how things will unfold, and whether we will have the strength to endure. In times like these, trusting God can feel difficult—but it is also the most powerful choice we can make.

God Knows What We Cannot See

One of the greatest comforts we have as believers is knowing that God sees the whole picture when we only see a fragment. Isaiah 46:10 reminds us that God declares “the end from the beginning,” meaning He is not surprised by anything we face. While we may be overwhelmed by uncertainty, God is sovereign over every moment of our lives. His plan is perfect, even when it doesn’t make sense to us.

Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us:

  • “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This verse teaches us that our understanding is limited, but when we surrender our future to God, He will guide our steps.

Fear is often the biggest obstacle to trusting God with the unknown. It whispers, “What if things go wrong? What if you fail? What if God doesn’t come through?” But fear is a liar. God calls us to replace fear with faith, remembering that He is always with us.

In Joshua 1:9, God gives this command:

  • “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

When we hold onto God’s promises instead of our fears, we can walk forward with confidence, even when the path ahead is unclear.

The Bible is filled with stories of people who trusted God despite not knowing what the future held. Abraham obeyed God’s call to leave his homeland without knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). The Israelites followed God’s pillar of cloud by day and fire by night without knowing where it would lead (Exodus 13:21). Even Mary, the mother of Jesus, accepted God’s plan without fully understanding how it would unfold (Luke 1:38).

Each of these individuals faced an uncertain future, but God provided for them every step of the way. And He will do the same for us. Philippians 4:19 assures us:

  • “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we know the One who holds tomorrow. His provision is enough.

Trusting God with the unknown requires surrender. It means letting go of control, releasing our worries, and choosing to believe that God is working all things for our good (Romans 8:28). Surrender doesn’t mean we stop planning or making wise decisions; rather, it means we place our confidence in God’s faithfulness instead of our own understanding.

Psalm 56:3 offers a simple yet powerful declaration:

  • “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Choosing to trust God is a daily decision. It is waking up each morning and saying, “Lord, I don’t know what today holds, but I know You are in control. I trust You.”

A Prayer for Trusting God in Uncertainty

Heavenly Father,

I come before You with a heart full of uncertainties. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know You hold my future. Help me to trust You, even when I can’t see the way ahead. Give me peace when I feel anxious, courage when I feel afraid, and faith to believe that Your plans for me are good. I surrender my worries to You and choose to walk by faith, not by sight. Thank You for always being with me, guiding me, and providing for me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hearing God in a Noisy World

Every day, we’re bombarded with voices—news, social media, podcasts, opinions of friends and family, even our own thoughts pulling us in different directions. It can be overwhelming and confusing, making it hard to know what’s true and what really matters. But in the middle of all the noise, there is one voice that stands above the rest—Jesus.

In the Bible, there’s a moment when God Himself speaks directly to His followers and gives a simple but powerful command: “Listen to Him!” (Matthew 17:5). This happened when Jesus took three of His disciples up on a mountain, and they saw something incredible—Jesus’ appearance changed, glowing with heavenly light, and two great figures from history, Moses and Elijah, appeared with Him. As the disciples stood in awe, a bright cloud covered them, and God’s voice spoke, making it clear that above all the voices in the world, they needed to listen to Jesus. And the same is true for us today.

The disciples were totally overwhelmed at the transfiguration. They were terrified, but Jesus walked right up, touched them, and said, “Get up. Don’t be afraid.” (Matthew 17:7) Isn’t that what He does for us? In our fear and uncertainty, He reassures us with His presence and love.

Let’s be honest—there are so many voices fighting for our attention every day. It’s exhausting, right? But Jesus’ voice is different. His words silence the noise. They bring clarity when we’re confused, hope when we’re struggling, and truth when we don’t know what to believe.

Jesus speaks to us in so many ways—through the Bible, prayer, the Holy Spirit, or even a conversation with someone who loves Him. But how often do we actually stop and listen? Listening takes effort. It means slowing down, tuning out distractions, and being willing to act on what we hear.

When we really listen to Jesus, amazing things happen:

  • We find peace. In a world that’s full of chaos and noise, His voice calms us. Think about when He says, “Don’t be afraid.” It’s like a deep cleansing breath for your soul.
  • We get direction. Feeling lost? His Word lights the way. Psalm 119:105 says it perfectly: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
  • We gain strength. You know those days when you just feel drained? His promises remind us that His strength shows up when we’re at our weakest.

So, here’s something to think about: Whose voice are you really listening to right now? Is it Jesus’? Or are other voices crowding Him out?

Let’s make it a goal today to turn down the world’s noise and lean into what Jesus has to say. His words aren’t just helpful—they’re life-changing.

Jesus, I want to hear You above everything else. Help me quiet the distractions around me and make space to listen. Speak to me through Your Word, guide my choices, and give me the courage to follow You. Thank You for Your peace, direction, and strength. Help me to trust You and obey Your voice. The Masterpiece of Your Life: God’s Handiwork

As we step into the new year, it’s easy to think of it as a fresh start, a blank canvas waiting to be filled. But what if we imagined that the new year is not a blank slate at all, but rather a new layer being added to a masterpiece that God has been painting throughout our entire lives? Every day, every moment, and every year is a stroke of His brush, contributing to the richness, depth, and beauty of the story He is telling.

In the hands of the Master Artist, our lives are not random or disconnected moments. Each year, He adds additional brushstrokes—sometimes thick, sometimes thin, sometimes bold, and occasionally subtle—that build upon the layer before it. The beauty of an oil painting is that each layer is integral to the final work. Without the depth, texture, and complexity added over time, the painting would lack the fullness that makes it truly stunning.

Layers of Growth and Transformation

Just as an artist adds layer after layer to a painting, God has been adding layer upon layer to our lives. Some layers are made of moments of joy and celebration, where the light shines brightly, and the colors are vivid and bold. Other layers come in moments of pain or difficulty, where the brushstrokes are deeper and more muted but still necessary to create depth and dimension.

In each year, God paints with purpose. Sometimes, we might not see the beauty of a layer until much later, as it blends with the ones before it. But as we look back on the years of our lives, we can see how each layer has contributed to the masterpiece that God is creating—layer by layer, year by year.

Trusting the Master Artist

Like an oil painting, the process is slow and steady. God isn’t rushing through our lives to finish the painting. He knows that every stroke, every moment, is essential to the final result. We may look at certain years and wonder why they were filled with trials or challenges, but those are the very layers that add depth, texture, and richness to the final masterpiece.

In the same way that an artist steps back to admire their work and evaluate each layer, God sees the fullness of the painting He is creating in our lives. He knows what the final picture will look like—each year is just a portion of the whole, and He is working in ways we cannot always understand. But we can trust that every layer is part of His perfect design.

Every Layer Counts

It’s easy to get caught up in thinking that certain years were “better” than others or that some moments were more significant. But in God’s hands, every year—whether it’s filled with moments of brightness or moments of darkness—is necessary for the painting. The beauty comes in the way He uses each year to add to the larger picture.

As we look ahead to this new year, let’s remember that it’s not just a single, isolated moment in time. It’s part of the bigger picture God is creating in our lives. And each layer He adds is rich with purpose, depth, and meaning. We may not yet see how it all fits together, but the Master Artist knows exactly what He is doing.

Embracing the Masterpiece

So, as you enter this new year, don’t view it as a blank canvas. See it as the next layer in the beautiful, ongoing masterpiece God is painting in your life. Each moment is an essential brushstroke, and with each passing year, He is bringing more extraordinary beauty, richness, and depth to your story. Trust in the process, knowing that every stroke—whether joyful or challenging—is part of the more excellent work He is creating.

And when the final painting is revealed, we will see the masterpiece that God has been crafting all along—a beautiful work of art that tells the story of His faithfulness, love, and perfect design.

Dear Lord, As we enter this new year, help us trust You as the Master Artist of our lives. Thank You for the layers You’ve already added to our story, shaping us with love and purpose. Help us confidently face whatever the year ahead brings, knowing that You are right by our side. Thank You for this reminder that You are always at work in our lives and that Your plan is perfect. Finding Strength and Hope Through God’s Word

Life can sometimes feel like a storm — chaotic, uncertain, and overwhelming. In those moments, it’s easy to feel lost and unsure where to turn. But the good news is, we don’t have to face these struggles alone. Romans 15:4 reminds us that God’s Word is a lifeline, offering strength, encouragement, and hope. “Everything written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us strength to go on. They encourage us and give us hope.” When life’s challenges feel too heavy to bear, the timeless wisdom found in God’s Word is there to guide us through it all.

The Bible is more than a collection of ancient stories or moral guidelines—it is a living source of strength, encouragement, and hope we can turn to at any moment. Life can be exhausting, especially when we feel burdened by the weight of our struggles. But as this verse in Romans reminds us, the Scriptures provide the strength we need to carry on. When we’re weary, the promises of God give us the endurance to keep going. Verses like Isaiah 40:31 remind us, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”

By spending time in God’s Word, we are reminded that our strength doesn’t come from our own abilities—it comes from God. His Word fills us with the power to persevere, even when the road ahead seems impossible.

Unlocking Solomon’s Wisdom: A Guide to Divine Understanding

God gave Solomon wisdom, and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.
1 Kings 4:29

Imagine the Creator of the Universe offering you this proposition: “Ask for whatever you want me to give you…” What would you request? Abundant wealth? Fame? Happiness? Health? A passing grade on your next test? A luxurious home? A winning lottery ticket? A championship victory for your favorite sports team?

When God gave Solomon the opportunity to ask for anything, he chose wisdom. He asked for “a discerning heart” to govern God’s people and to distinguish between right and wrong. His request pleased God so much that not only did He grant Solomon wisdom, but He also gave him wealth and honor. Furthermore, God promised Solomon a long life if he obeyed His commands, just as his father, David, had done.

Notice that Solomon’s request was rooted in his desire to carry out the responsibility of his kingship. He recognized that, as king, he needed discernment to make wise decisions and lead well. Although God hand-picked him for this position, he saw himself as a “little child” who needed guidance.

Can you imagine that? The wisest man who ever lived, renowned throughout history for his wisdom, felt inadequate and ill-equipped when called to rule the people of Israel. The weight of the responsibility was overwhelming to Solomon. However, instead of asking God to carry out the task for him, he asked for the personal resources that would allow God to work through him.

Wisdom Beyond Head Knowledge: Seeking Heart Knowledge

Another powerful aspect of Solomon’s request is that he sought “heart knowledge” rather than “head knowledge.” He didn’t just want to be intelligent; he wanted “God-centered” wisdom, not “self-centered” wisdom. Intelligence without compassion can lead to destruction, but wisdom that flows from a heart filled with God’s love has the power to change the world for eternity.

Throughout most of his reign, Solomon’s wisdom bore fruit in the form of peace, prosperity, and security for Israel. His example reveals what can happen when a nation remains obedient to God’s commands and trusts Him for direction. But Solomon’s life also shows us the dangers of not applying God’s wisdom in every area of our lives. While he had been blessed with a wise and discerning heart, it didn’t guarantee that he would always make the right choices.

A Powerful Lesson from Solomon’s Life

In his later years, Solomon made the mistake of marrying hundreds of foreign wives to seal political alliances. This directly violated God’s commands, as well as the instructions of his father, David. Solomon allowed these foreign influences to weaken his loyalty to God, ultimately leading him down a path that brought destruction to the nation he had once led so wisely. Even the wisest man who ever lived made foolish decisions when he failed to stay true to God’s commands.

Solomon’s story teaches us a powerful lesson: our talents, gifts, and abilities are of little value if we don’t address our weaknesses. Knowing what is right doesn’t matter if we lack the will to follow through on that knowledge. Solomon was wise in ruling Israel, but his personal decisions led to his

God promises to supply all our needs if we put His kingdom and His will first. While He may not promise us great riches or fame, He will provide for our deepest needs if we make Him our priority.

A Prayer for a Discerning Heart

Are you facing a task or responsibility that seems too big for you to handle? Do you feel overwhelmed by the weight of your responsibilities? Before you begin, spend time in God’s Word and on your knees before your Heavenly Father. Ask Him for a “discerning heart” so that you can be equipped to fulfill His purpose in your life. When you seek God’s wisdom, He will give you the strength and direction you need to succeed.

A Prayer for Today:

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the source of all wisdom. Please grant us a discerning heart, just like You did for Solomon. Help us seek Your guidance in all areas of our lives so we can make wise decisions and fulfill the roles You have called us to. Fill us with Your understanding so that we can walk in Your truth and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Guidance In All Seasons of Life

This verse is a beautiful reminder of the role we play in God’s triumphant plan. It paints a vivid picture of how He leads us – no matter where we are – on a path of victory. And through us, He spreads the “lovely perfume” of knowing Him to those around us.

A lovely perfume! What a beautiful image! When we think of perfume, we think of something that lingers, something that makes a mark on our senses, something that transforms the air around us. It’s not overpowering but rather gentle, pleasant, and inviting. This is how God’s love and grace touch the world through our lives. We are the vessels he uses to release the beautiful fragrance of His love, peace, and hope into a world that desperately needs it.

A Gentle, Inviting Aroma In Everyday Moments of Life

Like a lovely perfume, the aroma of God’s love doesn’t demand attention; it simply fills the space where it is released, drawing people in. When we live our lives rooted in Christ, that fragrance flows naturally. By spending quiet time with God and allowing His Word to soak into our souls, we become steeped in the aroma of His grace. As we go about our day, that sweet scent goes with us – transforming the atmosphere wherever we go.

Vessels of His Fragrance: Sharing God’s Love to the World

Dear Lord, Wherever You lead me today, let Your love and grace flow through me like a sweet fragrance, drawing others to You. Even though I may be walking through challenging times, remind me that You are guiding me every step of the way, and no matter where I go, You are already there. Fill my heart with the lovely aroma of Your presence, and let it linger in the words I speak and the actions I take. Use my life to spread the fragrant knowledge of Your goodness to a world in desperate need of Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

God’s Comfort in the Crisis: Even There, He Guides

Even in the ICU? Yes, even there.

Even in the fiercest storm? Yes, even in that place.

In the grips of unrelenting pain? The answer is still yes.

In the anguish of a shattered heart, in the loneliest hours of the darkest night, or under the weight of heartbreaking grief? Yes, even there.

In the long days of uncertainty and overwhelming worry? Yes, God’s hand remains steady.

Even there…?

Yes, even there.

Psalm 139:10 offers us the incredible assurance that no matter where we find ourselves – whether in life’s most triumphant moments or in its deepest valleys – God’s presence is unwavering. He is there to guide and support us, even in the places of profound pain and uncertainty.

When the path before you feels impossible to navigate, and your heart aches with exhaustion and doubt, you are not alone. His guiding hand is always with you, even in the darkest and most overwhelming circumstances. In the rubble of broken relationships or the quiet moments of despair when no one else can see, God sees you. He is already ahead of you, offering His comfort, guidance and strength.

Even in the sterile stillness of a doctor’s office, when the diagnosis feels like too much to bear or the future looks uncertain, God is present. He’s not just aware of your struggles – He’s actively working in the midst of them, holding you up and leading you forward, even when the way seems impossible.

Even if the outcome is uncertain or the road to healing long, God is the God of restoration. He can mend the deepest wounds. His presence doesn’t depend on the situation changing immediately – it rests in His constant, faithful love.

So, wherever you are today, no matter how heart-wrenching or isolating the moment feels, trust this: God is with you, guiding you through. He works within us, bringing peace and new strength, walking with us through the rubble – whether it leads to reconciliation or healing within ourselves.

There is no place too dark, no moment too painful for His love to reach. He is already waiting there to guide you, to offer His strength. Even there.

“Lord, in every season and place, remind us of Your constant presence. Whether we stand in joy or walk through pain, may we feel Your guiding hand and draw strength from Your love. Help us trust that You are with us, even in the hardest moments, and that Your grace will carry us through. Amen.”

The Sunrise in Your Soul

Through the heartfelt mercies of our God, God’s Sunrise will break in upon us, shining on those in the darkness, those living in the shadow of death, then showing us the way, one foot at a time, down the path of Peace.

Luke 1:78 – 79

Watching a sunrise is one of the most peaceful experiences on earth. As the newborn day peeks out of its cradle, an ever-changing palette of soft pastels paints the sky ‘s fresh canvas. While fringes of the sun’s light become more visible, the silence of dawn is softly interrupted by morning songs of birds – blending harmoniously together in a cheerful symphony of praises to their Creator. The cool morning air gives way to the warmth of the majestic solar glow.

In the few minutes it takes to pause and watch the sun pull itself up over the horizon, there’s a perpetual feast for the senses that can transform your spirit and set the tone for your day.

Jesus came into the world as “God’s Sunrise.” (Luke 1:78) His dazzling light shines brightly on the darkest caverns of our hearts and illuminates the path to peace – the path to the One true God.

Starting each day basking in the light of His Word, will refresh your soul and provide you with hope, guidance, and perspective for any circumstance you face throughout the day.  Trust Him to take your hand and guide you – one foot at a time – down the path to perfect peace.

Take time to pause in His presence, and be transformed by His Son-rise in your Soul!
