40 Days of Prayer for the U.S.A.

Standard

“In God We Trust:”

“In You our fathers put their trust;

they trusted and You delivered them.”

Psalm 22:4

Starting today, September 28, there are 40 days until the next election in the U.S.A.  I encourage each of you to start praying each day from this point forward for this critical election.  Max Lucado has given us a simple acronym using the letters “U.S.A.” to guide us as we pray:

U:  Unite our Country

S:  Strengthen our Country

A:  Appoint and Anoint our President

Our founding fathers chose “In God We Trust” as our nation’s motto.  Let’s follow their lead and place our trust in God for our nation’s future.

Please join me in prayer for our country and its future.

One Nation Under God

Standard

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…

Psalm 33:12a (NIV1984)

As we celebrate America’s Independence Day, let’s take a moment to think about on whom are we depending as a nation? Our Founding Fathers believed in creating “one nation under God.” Is God the LORD of our nation, or have we refocused our dependence upon our own strength and might?

“‘This is what the great king, the king … says: On what are you basing this confidence of yours?
You say you have strategy and military strength—but you speak only empty words. On whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?” Isaiah 36:4-5 (NIV 1984)

On each note of our currency, you’ll see the words printed, “In God We Trust.” Have those become “empty words?” One of the biggest problems we are facing as a nation today is the stability of our economy. Perhaps if we each took a moment to embrace those four simple words in our own lives, we could begin to reverse the national trend of trusting in something other than God. Likewise, if each one of us whispered a prayer for our country every time we open our wallets and pull out a dollar bill to spend, we could make a difference for the future of our beloved homeland. Let the words “In God We Trust,” be a reminder to place your own trust in God and also to pray for our nation. God can heal our nation’s problems. He will hear our prayers.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV1984)

“May God Bless the U.S.A.!”
